Beyond Recovery: How a Journey to Uganda is Helping Youth Find New Purpose

In the United States, the crisis of addiction is staggering. With nearly 29 million people battling Alcohol Use Disorder and 1 in 11 adults affected by drug addiction, the path to recovery can feel isolating and fraught with triggers. Sobriety is the first step, but what comes next? How does one rebuild a life of purpose and hope, free from the environments that fueled the addiction?

ELOI Ministries is pioneering a transformative approach with our Post-Recovery Support Program. We believe that true healing comes from self-discovery and a renewed sense of purpose. That’s why we take young people recovering from addiction on a unique, self-sponsored trip to Uganda.

Why Uganda? A Journey of Healing:

This isn’t a vacation; it’s a mission of empowerment. By stepping into a new environment under the guidance of our sister organization, participants are:

  • Removed from Triggers: With no access to street drugs or old influences, individuals can focus entirely on their healing and personal growth.
  • Engaged in Hands-On Service: Working on community projects fosters a sense of accomplishment, builds valuable life skills, and shifts the focus from internal struggles to external contribution.
  • Discovering Renewed Purpose: Immersed in a new culture and community, participants often discover a new perspective on life, renewing their vitality, dignity, and sense of self-worth that they can carry back to the US.

Recovery is not just about stopping a destructive behavior; it’s about starting a constructive new life. Our program is a bridge to that new life, offering a healing space where individuals can thrive, not just survive.

Your support can change a life. A donation to our Post-Recovery Program can help provide the resources and support an individual needs to embark on this life-changing journey.
