Access To Justice

We advocate for Sustainable Access to Justice for the unfairly incarcerated persons in USA immigration Detention centers. Our primary objective is to access justice for the Minors, men and women suffering in the immigration Detentions with the aim of improving their wellbeing.

OUR STORY

ELOIM works closely together with other partners whose sole purpose/aim is to strengthen the quality of interventions, inclusiveness in program monitoring, policymaking, and strategy development plans that target and are relevant to men and women who have been unfairly incarcerated in immigration detention centers in the USA without access to free and affordable justice for several months or even years.

We advocate for Sustainable Access to Justice for the unfairly incarcerated persons in USA immigration Detention centers. Our primary objective is to access justice for the Minors, men and women suffering in the immigration Detentions with the aim of improving their wellbeing. The worst punishment you can subject to any human being running and seeking safety from their country is to indefinitely incarcerate them in immigration detention centers some of which are under poor conditions. This causes more damage in the lives of these individuals in form of psychological, physical and creates an inferiority complex which affects and reduces productivity of such individuals even if they are released and given chance to live and work in USA. Prolonged detention Must stop as it’s a clear violation of Human rights.

We are encouraged by the willingness of other human rights individuals and agencies that support national human rights efforts. In a context in which all countries have pressing national concerns, we appreciate the continued commitment to civil rights operations in the USA and the global response necessary to prevent injustice.

Through this program, Access to Justice, ELOIM’s interests are in improving the quality of access to justice for our target groups and as such, strategies employed under this program are aimed at contributing to improving the quality of our services.

The success of our fundraising campaigns will support among others, community consultation, policy advocacy, communication, and outreach training for underprivileged persons. These participants will be identified as the ambassadors of the other disadvantaged Minors, men, and women.

Capacity Building & Partnership

ELOIM also supplements its efforts by encouraging capacity building of paralegals and other resource persons identified by the respective underprivileged persons and Human Rights organizations and networks to be able to work within our communities to increase access to Justice.ELOIM also partners with mainstream human rights organizations and legal aid service providers to expand legal aid provisions for these persons.  It also works with informal justice systems and traditional cultural structures to address injustices through mediation. ELOIM has purposed to train its programs team and social workers routinely in its Community Paralegal Training Program. Having paralegals helps us to encompass a wide variety of tasks that are all focused on making a difference in legal proceedings, actions, research, hearings, and trials. Paralegals work with attorneys, judges, corporate firms, and government officials to handle everything from the initial contact with a client to the final filing of any paperwork with the appropriate agency. A diverse set of skills, experience, and knowledge is only be found at ELOIM thus encouraging more social workers in the legal field to volunteer with us.

We must acknowledge the role of Angry Tias and Abuelas at the southern Boarder, Haitian Bridge, Amnesty International and all civil society organizations in fighting injustice in the USA. The achievements and victories in the fight for human rights and equality among other programs are our aspirations.

We are grateful to each of the Community pro bono lawyers/Paralegals & partner organizations who tirelessly reach out to the persons incarcerated in these immigration Detention Centers all over the country for the incredible work that each of them is doing in our communities and their spheres of influence.
