Pastor Steven Tendo

PRESIDENT & FOUNDER

Tendo Steven was born in Kampala to Christian royal parents in 1984. At the age of thirteen, he dedicated his life to serving God after losing both parents under suspicious circumstances and he miraculously went through his studies without a sponsor or help from his family.

Steven traveled throughout East, Central and Sub-Saharan Africa as Minister and led charity activities with Ministry teams. He is an ordained Pastor today who has ministered in most parts of the world, an activist and advocate for human rights through  massive  sensitization, Community organizing, Policy reform campaigns among others. God has already provided massive land in Luwero triangle, But your support is needed to enable us get instruments, build a structure among others. He thrives on raising leaders, empowering Gods people to bring hope and healing to their Community by discipling individuals and nations for Christ.

Tendo Steven, in his adulthood was a human rights activist and also a political activist in Uganda. He was detained and tortured by authorities and had relatives killed and severely injured because of his activities which included encouraging Ugandans to vote. He came to the U.S. legally, seeking asylum. He was detained in Texas for more than 2 years, his diabetes went untreated, and he all but lost his eyesight.

His white blood count plummeted as COVID cases spread through the detention center. ICE planned to deport him although it was clear he would be killed as soon as he arrived back in Uganda. There was such a hue and cry about this decision, that ICE reversed its decision and released him. They even paid for surgery which has largely restored his eyesight. He is living and working in Vermont. What a story! The Quick Response team wrote letters on three occasions during his detention, as well as phone calls, joining many groups like Angry Tias and Abuelas, JF. Kennedy foundation, Amnesty International among others pushing for him to be released to a sponsor in the USA.

He has now founded a sister branch of his African ministry in the USA called ELOI Ministries focusing on advocating for justice and human rights among immigrants and working with youths recovering from addictions. www.eloiministries.us.org.

In 2021, after Steven was released from detention, He started a journey of registering ELOI Ministries US with relevant Authorities in USA, he is grateful that the organization is fully registered & fully granted the 501(c)3 status.
